Fickle April, startle me.
\nSpring’s shaky hold
\nknocked loose by the whimsy
\nof the jet stream,
\npulling a curtain of wintry air
\nand icy dampness
\nfrom latitudes far to the north.<\/p>\n
But freezing rain is no match
\nfor the inexorable tilt of the globe
\nand the radiant sun, even through clouds,
\ndraws the dandelions on \u2014
\ngolden lions’ teeth of my lawn.<\/p>\n
Unheedful, the earth is verdant,
\nAnd me, I have a rain coat
\nand patience.<\/p>\n
I made the questionable boast that I write poetry, and thought that I darn well better actually write something.
